It always surprises people who don’t know London so well that we are blessed with an abundance of parks and green spaces.
And I have so many favourite places I like to photograph families in.
I like to visit as many as I can at different times of the year because the light and foliage are constantly changing.
Spontaneous family photography
Every so often, usually on a whim, we'll race down our dinner and then jump in the car and head out to the BIG park to explore, admire the deer, practice our balance on the big logs, find sticks, throw those sticks in the pond, try not to get maimed by the swans and just generally reconnect with nature.
Magical, golden Autumn light is best for outdoor photo shoots
Last night I was solo parenting, the light looked fantastic and I knew that a good couple of hours roaming around in what passes for the 'wild' in London would not only be good for my soul, but it would tire the kids out for a guaranteed easy bedtime.
Usually my kids hate posing for my camera, which is great because it means I have to find creative ways to get them engaged enough they don't notice me snapping away (they will always be my most difficult clients!).
But I have to admit that last night, my two little muses were on fire!
We spent a good deal of time hunting for tigers, lions and dinosaurs (you’ll find these in abundance in south west London according to my daughter). Despite the threat of such mighty predators, the deer, swans and ducks were out in abundance and these two played so beautifully together, laughing, dancing, climbing, exploring and kissing and cuddling.
My Autumn photography sessions start next week
I just knew there was magic in this gorgeous autumn light!
I didn't actually take that many photos but I have so many more than I usually do from an outing with my kids.
All that gorgeous golden light and the leaves on the turn made me SO excited for my Autumn sessions which start next weekend. It's the busiest time of year for me and I literally cannot wait. Bring it on!
Have you booked your session yet? I have limited spaces left for October and November.
