ThePipas2019: Photobox Instagram Photography Awards 2019

100,000 entries and THIS photograph of the gorgeous Julia and her precious two-week-old baby boy has been short-listed in the Being Mum category of the 2019 Photobox Instagram Photography Awards.

I was absolutely OVER THE MOON when I received the below email notifying me of my success.

“Dear Kirsty

“I'm pleased to let you know your entry to this year's Photobox Instagram Photography Awards (PIPAs) has been selected by our panel of judges for the SHORTLIST.

“This is a huge achievement as we received over 100,000 entries from across Europe, so well done!”

Photography is a passion that I am so proud to have turned into a career.

Over the past three years I have thrown everything that I can into learning about and improving absolutely every aspect of my art, as well as building up my business.

I came across the PIPA competition back in July and I loved that they were looking for photographs celebrating motherhood.

I entered on a whim and then, knowing how many thousands of entries they would receive, didn’t really give it much thought.

So I couldn’t quite believe my eyes when I saw the email, swiftly followed by a request for some more information for a news article which ran in Metro newspaper this morning.

I am so thrilled that after three years of throwing everything I have into perfecting my craft to have been shortlisted for this award.

More importantly, it was from such a special newborn session

I adore photographing newborns. I still remember the terror, exhaustion and awe I felt when I held my own new baby for the very first time.

There is absolutely nothing in this world that can prepare you for that gut-punch of emotion that runs through you. And it only gets stronger with time.

So I adored every minute of capturing those special first moments with Julia and her brand new little guy.

Julia had this to say about our session: “We recently had a maternity shoot and a newborn shoot with Kirsty and I thoroughly enjoyed both sessions. Kirsty is lovely and her super relaxed approach made even my husband enjoy himself during the shoot. We are very pleased with the outcome and I will happily contact Kirsty again when our baby boy is a little older.”
