Fun-filled family photoshoots around London Bridge | London Photographer
If you want photos with the most iconic London background, then booking your family photoshoot around London Bridge is exactly what you need to do.
Not only does the area contain the most famous of London bridges (yes, I’m talking about Tower Bridge here!) there are also so many different places to visit and things to see.
What can I expect from a photoshoot near Tower Bridge?
This is one of my favourite London locations for one reason: there are loads of secret places nearby which make gorgeous photos that not many people know about.
Our Photoshoot starts at St Dunstan’s In The East
For those booking my longer 2.5 hour sessions around Tower Bridge, we usually start at St Dunstan’s In The East - the ruins of a 12th century church beautifully preserved as a quiet garden.
This hidden London gem (a mere 7-minute walk from the Tower of London) provides a lush and atmospheric background for family photos - as I think you can see from above.
Then it’s on to the Tower and another one of the area’s secret spaces: St Katharine’s Docks
The Tower of London itself should always be at the top of your list of places to visit when you are in the area. And it makes for some great photos. After we have explored that famous and well-known area, I highly recommend a little nip down an unassuming side-alley to reveal another one of this location’s surprising secrets: St Katharine’s Docks.
This quiet residential area is where you moor your super yacht when sailing into the city (just incase you were wondering what to do with yours!) And you can hop out and enjoy a lovely meal and a tipple or three in one of the man bars and restaurants that hug the edge of the docks.
And is also plays host to some incredible murals that I have WAAAAY too much fun photographing (as you can see from these images)
Across the bridge is Shad Thames, a secret beach and some modern buildings
If you are going to visit Tower Bridge, you do need to walk across it and appreciate the view over the Thames.
On the other side of the famous London Bridge is Shad Thames, (another of those quirky London streets you see all over Instagram) which holds another little London secret. At the start of the street there is a doorway to the left which leads to some steps right down onto a pebbled beach at the foot of Tower Bridge.
The beach is only accessible at low-tide. At all other times, the steps plunge right down into the water. And lets face it, no one wants to end up going for a swim (well not in the Thames anyway!)
Shall we talk about views of the City, the Shard, water fountains and more?!
Yes, there’s more! Outside City Hall (affectionately known to Londoners as the Armadillo), there are yet more views of the historic Tower of London, right next to the more modern glass buildings that make up the city of London (the capital’s financial centre).
As well as the views, there are more restaurants, bars and BEST of all, some fountains installed specifically to entertain children (and adults of all ages).
Had enough yet? Ok! Ok! I won’t go on to talk about the gastronomic delights of Borough Market, the incredible views from the Shard or the Roman ruins that are scattered around the area.
