London Proposal and Engagement Photographer
Capturing your London love story
—— A One Woman Team ——
“Kirsty is fantastic! Planning a proposal/photoshoot in another country, eight time zones away can be very stressful but with Kirsty, it was like I had a whole team backing me. Oh, and the photos were AMAZING! I would 10/10 recommend her for all your photography needs.”
Leo M · London 2024
Meet your photographer ——
Hi! I’m Kirsty: Your personal paparazzi and proposal-planning wing-woman, all rolled into one!
You've chosen the ring. You've booked the flights. You've planned the trip of a lifetime.
Now you just need someone to capture the moment it all comes together.
I am a London Proposal Photographer with a decade of experience helping couples from all over the world capture one of the most meaningful moments of their lives.
I specialise in discreet, natural photography that lets you stay fully present while I quietly document everything — the nerves, the surprise, the joy, and best of all, the "Yes!"
Most people don't remember exactly what they said during their proposal. Some barely remember what happened at all — it becomes a blur of adrenaline and emotion. That's exactly why having it professionally photographed matters. You get to relive the details you'd otherwise miss.
And your partner? They get a beautiful surprise twice — first the proposal itself, and then the realisation that this once-in-a-lifetime moment was quietly and beautifully captured.

—— The Proposal Process ——
How a Secret London Proposal Photoshoot Works
Planning a proposal in London is exciting, emotional, and (let's be honest) a little nerve-wracking.
You shouldn't have to figure it out alone. Here's how I help you pull off the perfect surprise:
1. We Plan Everything For Your London Proposal Photoshoot Together
Once you enquire, we'll have a call or exchange messages to talk through your vision. I'll help you think through:
Where to propose (I'll suggest locations based on what matters to you)
Timing and lighting (time of day makes a huge difference)
Exactly where to stand and which direction to face
How to position yourselves naturally so every angle works
I'll send you a location pin so you know exactly where you need to be and videos of the location so you can see what it looks like in advance — so there are no surprises, except the one you're planning.
2. The Day Of Your London Proposal Arrives
On the day of the Proposal, I'll be in position before you arrive, blending into the background, looking like just another tourist.
I will tell you when I am in position so you won't need to worry about where I am, or whether I'm ready
You can share your live location with me, or just let me know when you are on your way and a rough ETA
I'll be watching, waiting, and completely invisible to your partner (you’ll usually spot me as soon as you arrive)
All you need to do is show up and ask the most important question of your life, confident your precious memories are in safe hands.
3. The Proposal and Reveal
When you go down on one knee, I capture everything — the anticipation, the realisation, the emotion, the joy. Real, unposed, exactly as it unfolds.
You stay fully present. No fumbling with phones, no hoping a stranger presses record at the right time. Just you, your partner, and the moment you've been dreaming about.
After they say yes (and they will), I'll introduce myself. This is often when the happy tears really start — the realisation that everything was documented.
If you've booked an extended session, we'll continue with relaxed couples portraits at the same location or move somewhere new.
4. After the Proposal Photoshoot
I know how excited you will be after your big moment, and I know you can’t wait to share the good news with family and friends.
While you are out celebrating the big news, I’ll be working to get you a sneak peek of the actual moment - delivered within the day of the proposal.
And your private online gallery of beautifully edited images will be with you, within two weeks.
These aren't just photos for Instagram. They become a permanent reminder of the exact moment everything changed.
—— Choosing your photographer ——
What to Look For in a London Proposal Photographer
Not all photographers approach proposals the same way — and choosing the right one makes all the difference.
Experience with discreet proposal photoshoots
A proposal isn't JUST a photoshoot. You want someone who knows how to blend into the background, read the environment, and capture the moment without being noticed.
Discretion is at the heart of everything I do. No attention drawn to you. No awkward interruptions. Just real emotion, unfolding naturally.
"I was able to surprise my fiancée and capture a once-in-a-lifetime moment." — Eden W, November 2025
Help with Planning Your Proposal
(Not Just Showing Up)
A good London proposal photographer doesn't just turn up with a camera and hope for the best.
They help you think through every detail — location, timing, positioning, lighting — so when the moment arrives, you can relax and enjoy it.
"Kirsty sent me videos of the meetup location, set up a Zoom call to walk through the process, and proceeded to take the best pictures of us." — Nick M, August 2025
A Natural, Candid Photography Style
Your proposal should look and feel like you.
Look for a photographer whose work focuses on genuine emotion rather than stiff posing or overly staged moments.
"Kirsty captured it all, the various poses, beautiful backgrounds and most importantly all the emotions involved!" — Denise, February 2026
Someone You Can Trust
You're not just hiring a camera — you're trusting someone with one of the most meaningful moments of your life.
Feeling comfortable, confident, and supported matters just as much as the final images.
"We are so thrilled we found Kirsty! Our experience could not have been better." — Alex S, February 2026
—— Where to propose
The Best London Proposal Locations
London has a unique magic to it — timeless, romantic, and full of character.
Whether you're visiting for the first time or returning to a city you love, it offers the perfect backdrop for a proposal that feels cinematic without trying too hard. If you have a specific place in mind, I'll work with you to plan the perfect proposal there.
But if you're looking for a little inspiration, here are my favourite spots:
Tower Bridge
The most iconic London backdrop. Classic, romantic, instantly recognisable. Perfect for that "we got engaged in London" photo everyone will ask about.
Hyde Park
Quiet, with gorgeous architecture and peaceful park vibes, and very London. Ideal for couples who want something relaxed and natural without the crowds.
Big Ben & Westminster
It’s a tourist hot spot for a reason.
Timeless and unmistakably London. The architecture creates a dramatic, grand backdrop — ideal if you want something bold and cinematic.
Kyoto Garden, Holland Park
Tranquil, green, and unexpectedly peaceful for central London. Waterfalls, koi ponds, Japanese maples. A favourite for couples who love nature and want something away from the tourist crowds.
St Dunstan in the East
A hidden gem — a ruined church garden with climbing ivy and gothic arches. Quiet, romantic, utterly beautiful. Perfect for couples who want something more intimate.
Notting Hill
Colourful townhouses, flower-filled streets, and that unmistakable pastel charm. Playful and romantic — perfect if you want photos full of personality and colour.

Engagement Photography in London
Already engaged? Congratulations — you've done the hard part.

Whether you want to announce the news, have something beautiful for your save-the-dates, or simply want to mark this moment before life gets busy with wedding planning, an engagement session is the perfect way to do it.
Unlike a proposal shoot, there's no secrecy required — just relaxed, joyful photos of the two of you, exactly as you are right now.
I'll help you choose the perfect London location based on what feels right for you:
Something iconic and instantly recognisable
Somewhere quiet and intimate
A place that means something to your story
You can choose a relaxed 30-minute mini session (available Tuesday to Thursday), or start with a one-hour session on any day of the week and add extra time if you'd love to visit more than one location. I'll advise on the best time of day for that gorgeous, flattering light London does so well.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
51, and counting! I've photographed 51 proposals across London as part of more than 1,000 photoshoots over the past decade — and in all 51, the surprise held: no partner has ever spotted me before the "yes". I'm Kirsty Hamilton, a London proposal photographer, and I treat every proposal like the once-in-a-lifetime moment it is: planned together in advance, captured from a distance, with a same-day sneak peek so you can share your news straight away.
-
We plan everything in advance — location, timing, positioning, the lot. On the day, I arrive early and stay completely hidden. You won't see me until after they've said yes. I capture the entire moment discreetly, then introduce myself for the big reveal (and usually more happy tears).
-
Most don't — and even those who sense something special is happening rarely guess a photographer is involved. I dress casually, blend into the environment, and use a discreet camera setup. Many partners tell me afterwards they had no idea I was there.
-
Then you're exactly like most of the couples I photograph! Here's the secret: the proposal itself is captured from a distance, before you even know precisely where I am — so there's nothing to perform and no camera to feel awkward in front of. And by the time we move on to your couples photos, you've just got engaged. The smiles take care of themselves. My style is natural and unposed throughout: no stiff directions, no "hold that", just the two of you.
-
Wear whatever makes you feel most like yourselves — that's who I'm here to photograph. Outfit guidance is included in your planning, so we'll chat it through before the day. And for the classic proposal dilemma of getting your partner dressed up without arousing suspicion: a "nice dinner" or "special day out" is the time-honoured cover story, and I'll happily help you plot the details on our planning call.
-
Absolutely — this is one of my favourite parts. I'll suggest locations based on what matters to you (iconic vs hidden gem, busy vs quiet, architecture vs nature), send you videos so you can see exactly what each spot looks like, and show you the precise spot to go down on one knee.
-
In London, early morning means beautiful soft light and no crowds of tourists. But I've photographed stunning proposals at all times of day. I'll advise on the best timing for your chosen location. Golden hour (the hour after sunrise or before sunset) is available too, and it's when London does its most flattering light — just mention it when you book and I'll plan your location around it.
-
London weather is unpredictable, but rain doesn't have to ruin anything. We can reschedule if there's a downpour, move to a covered location, or embrace the moody drama — some of my favourite images have a little rain in them. We'll figure it out together.
-
Of course. Love is love, and I'd be honoured to capture your special moment.
-
Absolutely — many of the couples I photograph are visiting London, sometimes from the other side of the world, and I help plan the whole surprise remotely before you arrive. I'll send you a location pin and videos so you know exactly where to be, stay hidden on the day, and get a sneak peek to you the same day so you can share the news back home. I'm a London proposal photographer with ten years' experience and 1,000+ sessions.
-
Yes! Paris proposals are available as an add-on to my London services. It's an easy Eurostar journey from central London, and the city needs no introduction as a place to ask the most important question of your life. Paris sessions are £795 for one hour or £995 for two, plus my travel, and we plan everything together in exactly the same way as a London proposal. If Paris is part of your trip, mention it when you get in touch and I'll talk you through the details.
-
Yes — many couples do exactly this. Once the secret is out and the emotions have settled, we continue with relaxed portraits. It's a lovely way to extend the experience and get a variety of images from your session.
-
As soon as you have your travel dates confirmed, get in touch. Popular dates (weekends, golden hour slots, peak tourist season) book up quickly. I recommend reaching out at least 4–6 weeks in advance, though I can sometimes accommodate shorter notice if availability allows.
-
Simply get in touch through the contact form and we'll start planning. A £175 deposit secures your date and time — it's non-refundable, as it holds your slot and covers the planning — and the balance is due one week before your shoot. That's it: no hidden extras, and travel within central London is included.
-
Sneak peeks in 24 hours. Your private online gallery will be ready within two weeks of your session. You'll be able to download and share directly from the gallery.
-
More than you might be expecting! A one-hour proposal session comes with a guaranteed minimum of 40 edited images, and most couples receive 80–90. A 30-minute midweek mini includes at least 15 (typically 25–35), and a two-hour Personal Paparazzi session at least 60 — usually 120–150. Every image is individually edited, high resolution, and ready to download, print and share from your private gallery.
-
The best proposal photographer for you is the one whose style you love and who you trust to keep the secret and handle the moment calmly — so look at their proposal work and reviews first. Discretion is at the heart of everything I do: I plan the location, timing and positioning with you in advance, stay completely hidden until the "yes", then capture it as it really happens. I'm Kirsty Hamilton, a London proposal photographer with ten years' experience, 1,000+ sessions and 60+ five-star reviews, and I send a sneak peek of the moment the same day so you can share your news right away.
-
Easy — get in touch through the contact form with your travel dates and the moment you're planning. We'll have a call or exchange messages to plan the location, timing and exactly where to stand, I'll stay hidden on the day to capture the surprise, and you'll get a same-day sneak peek plus your full edited gallery within two weeks. I'm a London proposal photographer with ten years' experience and 1,000+ sessions; sessions start from £525, with Paris available as an add-on.
-
My London proposal sessions start from £525. You can choose a 30-minute midweek mini (proposal coverage plus a little couples time), a one-hour session (the most popular — proposal plus around 45 minutes of couples photos), or a two-hour Personal Paparazzi across multiple locations. Every session includes planning, high-resolution edited images and a private online gallery. Tap through to the pricing page for the full detail.

My favourite London proposal spots are Tower Bridge for that iconic, instantly recognisable backdrop; Big Ben and Westminster for something grand and cinematic; St Dunstan in the East, a romantic ruined church garden that feels like a hidden gem; the Kyoto Garden in Holland Park for tranquil greenery; Notting Hill for colour and charm; and Hyde Park for something relaxed and classic. If you already have a place that means something to you, we'll plan around that instead — I'll help you choose the spot and the timing that suit your moment best.
