—— A Home Of Love And Memories ——

“When I first looked through our gallery, I was completely overwhelmed — every photo was joyful, tender, natural, and so full of life. Kirsty somehow captures the real us every time (but with our good sides... ;) ), and there are always too many beautiful moments to choose from. We've been doing shoots with her for over five years now, and her photos fill our home with love and memories!”

Kirsty Hamilton - A London Family Photographer smiles directly at the camera

Hi! I'm Kirsty Hamilton.

I am a London family photographer with a whole decade of experience under my belt. I have photographed 1000+ sessions across the whole of London.

I'm based in South West London and making sure my clients walk away with celebratory, joyful memories of them and the people they love the most, is pretty much what I live for.

As a mum-of-two kids aged 11 and 12, I know just how important it is that we have photographs and memories with our children that celebrate all the seasons of their lives.

When I am not out and about capturing incredible memories for families, couples and individuals in this beautifully, iconic city I am lucky enough to call home, you can find me on the sofa with a book in one hand, a coffee (or a gin and tonic) in the other and my geriatric cat purring at my side (he's fluffy, grumpy and gives me Bond Villain vibes).

Want to know more about me and the people I like to work with?

What to Look For in a London Family Photographer

Choosing a family photographer is a little different from booking any other kind of shoot. You're not just picking someone whose photos you love — you're picking someone your kids will warm to, who'll make the whole thing feel like a lovely morning out rather than an ordeal. Here's what actually makes the difference, and what I've built my whole approach around.

Someone who's genuinely brilliant with children

This is the big one, isn't it? You can have the loveliest spot in London and it counts for nothing if your toddler melts down or your ten-year-old does the fake cheese-smile. Look for someone who actually likes kids and knows how to work with them, not against them. As a mum of two, I don't ask small children to sit still and smile on command — I bring games, silliness and movement, and let the real giggles happen. The wriggly ones are my favourite.

“Kirsty is calm and kind, and brought the best out of our initially reluctant toddler, who was having the time of her life at the end of the shoot!"Kiri K, July 2026

A natural, unposed style

Your family doesn't live in “stiff, everyone-look-here, matching-outfit” poses — so why should your photos? Look through a photographer's gallery and ask whether the families look like themselves: relaxed, connected and mid-laugh. My style is lifestyle and candid/unposed. It is fierce hugs, tickle fights, whispered "I love yous", and a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere where everyone just gets to be exactly who they are.

"She has a great eye for capturing natural, authentic moments, and her aesthetic is wonderful, with nicely saturated colours." — Lisa A, July 2026

Someone who'll get you in the picture too

Here's the one nobody warns you about: mums spend years behind the camera, and then barely appear in the family album. That might be by choice, but I want you to stop for a minute, put all your hang-ups aside and really think about how much you matter to your family. YOU are the heart and centre of your family unit. The one everyone turns to (all the time). You matter in these photos just as much as the kids do — so look for someone who'll gently make sure you're in them, not just holding the snacks. Getting you back in the picture, exactly as you are right now, is genuinely one of my favourite things to do — because one day these are the photos your children will treasure most.

"My husband does NOT like getting his pic taken… but Kirsty managed to get great shots of us all, and my husband enjoyed the experience!" — Lauren DB, October 2021

Someone who knows London and the right spot for your family

The best family photos happen when the location suits your people; room for the kids to run, greenery, beautiful light, or the comfort of your own home. Look for someone who knows the city and can match the spot to your family. I'm based in South West London and know its parks and commons inside out — Richmond Park, Wimbledon and Wandsworth Commons, Morden Hall Park — as well as iconic central London (and I’m just as at-home north of the river in Alexandra Palace or Hampstead Heath). And lovely, relaxed in-home sessions are some of my favourite! I'll help you choose the one that fits your family best.

"The amazing golden light from our sunset photoshoot was exactly what we wanted." — Errem T, September 2023

A gallery you'll treasure and actually use

Think about what you'll get back, and how. You want high-resolution images you can download, share with the grandparents, and keep forever — a proper record of this season of your family's life. Everything I do is delivered as beautifully edited digital images in a private online gallery, easy to download and share, and with you within 10–14 days, while the memories are still fresh.

"We now have beautiful memories of our family over the years, captured by Kirsty, all over our home." — Olivia B, June 2023

Reviews and real experience with families

When you're trusting someone with your family's memories, proof matters. Look for a real track record and reviews from families like yours. I'm Kirsty Hamilton, and I've photographed 1,000+ sessions over ten years, with 60+ five-star reviews — including families I've now photographed through baby, toddler and school years, coming back season after season. That's the part I'm proudest of.

"Kirsty has been taking our family photographs ever since my daughter was 9 months old — we now have a 10 and 8 year old." — Karen D, July 2026

What's included in your London Family Photoshoot

Every single London Family Photoshoot is completely bespoke — designed around your family, your energy, and the things you love to do together.

I plan each session carefully to work the very best natural light, because beautiful light is what gives your images that bright, vibrant, joy-filled vibe.

In-home sessions are usually best in the morning.

Outdoor sessions work best early in the morning (with a start time before 9:30am, especially if you want a central London photoshoot) or later in the afternoon, in that gorgeous hour or two before sunset.

The two worries I hear most

Almost everyone who books me has a little wobble before they hit send — and it's usually one of these two fears. So let me get there first.

"But we can't pose — we'll just look stiff and awkward"

This is the big one, and it's the one thing you really don't need to worry about. I don't line you up and ask you to smile on command. I get you walking, playing, whispering to each other, chasing the kids — and I catch the real bits in between. You don't need to know what to do with your hands, or your face, or your feet. That part is my job. All you have to do is turn up and be with your people.

"Even though getting photos taken is awkward (!!), Kirsty was warm and really helped us relax and have fun. We couldn't decide which photos were our favourites, so had to get all of them!" — Kylie L, December 2020

"But I hate photos of myself"

I hear this one most from mums, and I understand it completely, because I am a mum and I have felt exactly like this. You're the one holding the snacks and wiping the faces and making sure everyone else is okay — so being the person in front of the camera can feel like a lot. But you belong in these photographs and in your children’s memories, exactly as you are right now. Not some tidier, more-together, someday version of you. The you your children actually reach for. I'll make being in the frame feel easy, never like a spotlight.

One mum told me having her own photos taken felt like an indulgence she'd never normally allow herself — and then, once she saw them, that they were genuinely good for her self-esteem. That's the part I love most.

So if one of those has been keeping your finger hovering over the button, consider it handled. The rest is just picking your favourite London spot and turning up.

—— Three Incredible Shoots ——

“We have had three incredible photoshoots with Kirsty and each time I knew we were in safe hands. She's incredibly professional but also so warm, friendly, and amazing with the kids. Somehow, she gets them to do exactly what is needed — and all with big smiles on their faces! In our most recent shoot, she even got my dog to pose beautifully (and smile!) which is absolute magic. Every photo is just beautiful. We got so many gorgeous shots in such a short space of time. I can't recommend Kirsty highly enough — if you're thinking about booking a photo shoot, do it! You'll be so glad you did.”
