Is there a better place for a spring proposal photoshoot than London’s Kyoto Garden?

Nestled in the middle of Holland Park (which is short walk from Notting Hill) this tiny, beautifully landscaped garden boasts a mini waterfall and koi-filled pond.

It’s easy to see why the Kyoto Garden makes the perfect romantic spot for a Spring proposal photoshoot in London.

This gorgeous couple were enjoying their Spring break vacation in London and had a fairly limited schedule.

When the prospective groom reached out to me, he already had the Kyoto Garden in mind for his proposal because they were planning to visit Notting Hill that morning.

However he wasn’t familiar with the area, as the couple was travelling from the United States.

So he couldn’t check it out beforehand.

A few weeks before the proposal, I sent a video to my lovely client, showing him exactly what the gardens look like and where he should propose (as well as showing where I would be photographing from).

On the day of the Spring Proposal in London’s Kyoto Garden, I arrived early to make sure I was in the best position to discretely capture the proposal when it happened. 

I shared my live location with my client, so we could easily track one another. And he also let me know what they were wearing so I’d have no problem spotting them when they arrived.

All of this meant that I was able to capture the whole story of their wonderful proposal as it happened!

What is the best time for a Spring Proposal in London’s Kyoto Garden?

As you can imagine this is a very popular spot and is often very busy. So I would suggest getting there are early as possible in the morning if you want to book a Spring Proposal photoshoot in London’s Kyoto Garden.

The gardens are open from 7:30am in the Spring/Summer. And is relatively empty at 8am/9am, which is a good time to propose if you can get there early enough!

This lovely couple weren’t able to get to the park much before 11am. 

And so the actual proposal happened when there were quite a few people around (as you can see from the sequence of photos here).

However, once I have captured that all important YES! AND all the emotion following the immediate proposal, the couple simply looped back around the pond and, after explaining to the other visitors what had just happened, we managed to quickly recreate that exciting moment without any other people in the background.

It was just as emotional the second time around!

Of course that wasn’t the end of our photoshoot. Once I’d captured all the emotion and joy of the actual proposal (and been introduced to the bride to be!), we then wandered through some other beautiful spots in Holland Park to capture some Engagement photos for the lovely couple.

The tulips were in full bloom in the Dutch garden (which are always gorgeously planted throughout the year). And all the frilly pink blossom on the trees made for a gorgeously seasonal background for us to work with.
