Why settle for incredible memories of your family enjoying one of the most iconic cities in the world when you can have two by indulging your wanderlust with a family vacation photoshoot in London AND Paris?!

This year, I had a a dream start to my summer with not one, but two family photoshoots in Paris, for families I had captured in London earlier on in the year.

When is the best time of year for a vacation photoshoot in London and Paris?

Paris is only 2 hours from London by train, so a lot of the families who opt for a vacation photoshoot in London and Paris, do so during the same trip.

Summer tends to be the most popular time of year to visit these two capital cities, which can mean the main sights are very crowded.

If you opt to visit in Spring, Autumn or winter you’ll find fewer crowds and a slightly more relaxed feel to your trip.

These two families (one from the USA and one from Zambia in Africa) were both in Paris in August but had visited London in January and March respectively. Which is why their London photos are so seasonal!

When is the best time of day for a family vacation photoshoot in London and Paris?

If you are booking a family vacation photoshoot in London or Paris, I’ll always suggest a morning photoshoot.

This is so we can avoid huge crowds around the main sights and also get the best of the available light.

That said, I do understand that an early morning photoshoot isn’t always an option if (for example) you have small children who would struggle to get out early, especially in the summer when sunrise can feel like it is happening in the middle of the night!

So in Paris this summer, we did one photoshoot at 7am and one at sunset.

While both families wanted their Paris vacation photoshoot to include the Eiffel Tower, we had to opt for completely different locations to account for both the crowds of people and also the light.

Our morning family vacation photoshoot in Paris started at the beautiful Avenue de Camoens and included the Bir Hakeim Bridge before we finished up at the Trocadero.

For the sunset photoshoot, we started on the other side of the Eiffel Tower in the Champ-de-Mars before walking capturing the sunset from the Passerelle Debilly pedestrian bridge and finishing up in the museum of modern art.

How do I book a family vacation photoshoot in London and Paris?

Whether you are travelling to both cities in the same trip or at different times of the year, do contact me as early as possible to get your photoshoot in the diary, so that I can make sure I have availability for you.

This is especially important for vacation photoshoots in Paris. Since they carry an extra travel charge (a return ticket via the Eurostar), the earlier I can get this booked in, the less expensive it is. Booking your Eurostar tickets more than three months in advance will get you the cheapest tickets (£40 to £50 each way). Last-minute tickets can cost as much as £290 each way.

How much time do we need for a family vacation photoshoot in London and Paris?

This very much depends on your family and how many sights you would like in the background of your photos.

Last year, I photographed a lovely family who opted for 2-hour photoshoots in both London and Paris.

This gave us plenty of time to get a huge variety of photos at various sights around the two capital cities.

There is also a one-hour option, which is perfect if you want just one iconic location. For example Big Ben/Westminster in London and the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
