Booking a London Photographer for a fun-filled family photoshoot around Buckingham Palace

If you are on the fence about where to book your family photoshoot, then has this London Family Photographer got a cracking sneak peek for you!

I have photographed this gorgeous family seven times now, they’ve been with me since the beginning (and were my very first clients as a professional London photographer!)

We’ve had photoshoots in big and small parks across south west London in every season, and also done some photos in their home.

So this year, they wanted something a little different.

They had seen the photoshoots I had done around London’s iconic landmarks and realised that having a photoshoot with a London photographer, was the perfect way to celebrate the fact that they live in this incredible city.

When is the best time for a photoshoot with a London Photographer?

As a London photographer who has been working in the city for over 6 years, I can tell you that the earlier you are able to start your photoshoot, the better!

London is a BUSY city and we are thrilled to have welcomed back so many tourists after Covid. If you want fewer people in your photos then you want to be out before the crowds.

In the week this usually means starting our photoshoot at around 10am.

But on weekends in the summer, a 7am or 8am start is ideal!

Of course as an experienced London Family Photographer, I am aware that getting out of bed too early on a weekend isn’t always ideal, so I will always try and work with your schedule.

For this photoshoot we met in Trafalgar Square just before 9am on a Saturday. It was already getting busy, because there was a rehearsal for the Trooping the Colour for King Charles’s birthday, and it was a preview, ticketed event.

Which meant LOTS of people in fancy clothes heading around Trafalgar Square to Horse Guards Parade. And lots of police around!

However, they were so friendly and let us take a photo with them (they also let us sneak onto the flag-lined deserted Mall for a quick family photo - what a result!!!)

As a London Photographer can you tell me where the best locations are to have my photoshoot?

This family wanted to have their photoshoot in Trafalgar Square because they knew it was a place their kids really loved.

As a London Photographer, I always ask what London means to my clients, and what landmarks spring to mind when they think of our iconic city.

I want their pictures to have lots of sentimental value! Of course not every person who books a London Photographer knows where they want their photos.

So I know that a London Photographer should always be able to offer helpful suggestions.

In this case, we decided to start our photoshoot at Trafalgar Square, walk along the Mall, going through the gorgeously green St James’s Park and then walking through Westminster, past Big Ben and over the Thames to finish our photoshoot by the London Eye.

We managed to fit a LOT of iconic London into our time together!

How long does a photoshoot with a London Photographer take?

As a London Photographer, I know that my clients all have different schedules and the amount of time they can spend having their photos taken.

So I offer three different photoshoot timings.

Mid-week mini sessions are 25 minutes long and can be booked between Monday and Thursday.

One hour photoshoots are available all week and on the weekend and usually involve photos around a single location (in this case we managed to fit in Trafalgar Square, St James’s Park and Westminster in our photoshoot).

How much does a photoshoot with a London Photographer cost?

Pricing for a photoshoot starts at £350 for a mid-week mini session.
