A winter family photoshoot on Tooting Common | London Family Photographer
Your gorgeous baby is finally in a sleep schedule you can set your clock by - and so of course, on the ONE day you need him to stick to that, he refuses to go down - just like this little guy for our winter family photoshoot on Tooting Common.
I always suggest we photograph babies at the time of day they are likely to be at their happiest.
For most babies, this is just after their morning nap (whether they are in a schedule or not!)
So when I book a photoshoot in with a baby in the mix, I always keep some flexibility in my calendar to account for a sudden change in when they have their nap.
In this case, the star of our photoshoot, decided to fall asleep just as his parents arrived for our photoshoot.
He woke up and was extremely sleep addled for the first part of our session.
Which meant lots of sweet, cuddled-up photos, making the most of the scenery around Tooting Common Ponds (which is the best place for photos - especially in late Autumn/ early winter!)
What happens if my baby won’t smile for the camera on our family photoshoot?
Like most of us, this brand new mum and dad really wanted their baby’s gorgeous grin captured on camera.
But he was completely unimpressed with our attempts to make him smile at the start of our shoot.
Of course, he looked adorable snuggled up with his parents, so after we had lots of photos with snuggles, we took a break so he could have a feed.
And then we found a quiet spot and took out some of his favourite toys, busted out his favourite nursery rhymes, and got dad chucking him up in the air.
And we got those gorgeous happy baby smiles his mum and dad were after.
You know what your baby likes and how to get those giggles out of them. I tend to find that a little snack and some play time helps bring them out.
And of course, seeing you! Our babies learn early on how to smile right at us and melt our hearts.
Where is the best place for a photoshoot on Tooting Common?
Tooting Common is one of my favourite places to photograph families - not least, because if you live nearby and you have kids, you will spend a large part of your life there!
The Tooting Common ponds are always a favourite spot. Especially in Autumn and Winter. The brambles and nettles die back during those seasons, making the wooded area around the ponds easily accessible. And the perfect spot to capture some really magical light-filled photos.
In Autumn, all the golden and bronzed leaves add to the beautiful scenery. And there is also plenty of green to go around, making for a lovely variety of backgrounds for family photos.
