There may have been dark clouds in the sky but this family certainly wasn’t letting anything rain our parade around Tower Bridge for this fantastically fun family photoshoot.

They were visiting London for a jam-packed weekend of fun and wanted some photos to show off London’s wonderful and distinctive architecture.

And they were captivated by the iconic bridges in the atmospheric Shad Thames, so that is where we started our family photoshoot around Tower Bridge.

I love to include some surprising spaces in my London photoshoots if I can, and the secret steps leading from Shad Thames directly to the bank of the river Thames, right under Tower Bridge is one of those spots.

At low tide, it almost feels like you are standing right under the famous bridge. And the texture of the stone and wood pier and bank walls and intense colours of the algae can make for some lovely images for your family photoshoot around Tower Bridge.

What other locations would you recommend for a family photoshoot around Tower Bridge?

I offer three different times for family photoshoot’s around Tower Bridge, so the locations we can visit depend on whether you have booked a mini session (25 minutes) a single location photoshoot (1 hour) or a multiple location photoshoot (2.5 to 3 hours).

For a mini family photoshoot around Tower Bridge, we would just include the famous bridge in the background of your photos. This can be done from either side of the river, either infront of the Tower of London (in which case we’d have views of that as well) or on the City Hall side of the river Thames, which can include Shad Thames as well.

This lovely lot opted for the one hour single location family photoshoot around Tower Bridge.

So we started in Shad Thames, then took some photos on the riverbank of the Thames, right under the bridge. Before moving onto the area infront of City Hall for views over the river Thames.

We then took some final photos on the bridge and finished up by the entrance to St Katharine’s docks to get lots of variety in the final images.

If you decide to book a much longer 3 hour family photoshoot around Tower Bridge, we could also include the famous Borough Market as well as sights further along the river bank (like St Paul’s cathedral and Big Ben/Westminster).

When is the best time for a family photoshoot around Tower Bridge?

For family photoshoots around Tower Bridge (or anywhere in central London for that matter) the earlier the better.

If you really want no one else in your images, then I have done photoshoots in this area at sunrise when we have the entire area to ourselves! This makes for a relaxed and intimate photoshoot.

But MOST of my clients booking family photoshoots around Tower Bridge, do not want to get up that early. In which case a 9am or 10am start still enables us to get great photos without battling huge crowds in the main tourist areas.
