When you have a special birthday to celebrate and are travelling abroad for the first time ever, then the only way to do it is with a stylish personalised portrait photoshoot in iconic London - right?!
Personalised portrait sessions are among some of my absolute favourite to do.
People book them for a number of different reasons.
They might want to celebrate a birthday.
Or get some professional photos to promote their business or side-hustle.
Or they might just want to ensure they come away from a once-in-a-lifetime holiday with some incredible memories.
And let’s face it, booking a professional photographer for any of these reasons takes the stress out of trying to do it yourself AND means fewer awkward selfie photos.
In all of my photoshoots I want to make sure that your unique personality shines through and things were no different for this personalised portrait photoshoot.
We wanted to take incredible photos which showed off iconic London, some well known locations and also the fabulous boutique hotel and surrounding Soho area that my wonderful client was staying in.
He also wanted to highlight some of his favourite brands as well as his brilliant sense of style.
I am incredibly lucky to work with the loveliest people from all over the world. So as a photographer I wanted to make sure that his fun, generous and compassionate nature shone through in all his images.
How long is a personalised portrait photoshoot?
I offer sessions that last 30minutes, 1 hour and up to 3 hours. And for these photos we decided on around 3 hours of shooting time.
That is quite the marathon photoshoot for just one person! I should know - I have done it myself and was utterly exhausted by the end.
So we decided to split this photoshoot into two sessions, but we could easily have done it over three or even four.
Where is the best place in London for a personalised portrait photoshoot?

Our first shoot was on my lovely client’s birthday and so we wanted a central London location that was iconic and recognisably London but would also offer a variety of different backgrounds for the photos.
The Southbank of the Thames at sunset was absolutely perfect for this personalised portrait session.
We started at Big Ben and then crossed Westminster Bridge for views of the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye.
As well as spectacular views of the Thames, we also captured the iconic buildings and quirky architecture along the riverside, finishing up by the Millennium Bridge with views of St Paul’s Cathedral, right as the sun was setting.
It was a pretty epic photoshoot - as I am sure you can tell! And we had a huge amount of fun.
Our second photoshoot was in and around Karma Sanctum, a luxury boutique hotel located in the heart of Soho.
This was where my client was staying and the minute I walked through the door and saw the distinctive rock ‘n roll decor I knew we had to do some photos there.
The surrounding Soho streets, uniquely London and full of colour provided some brilliant city vibes - which gave this photoshoot a totally different feel to the Southbank one to give a wider variety of images in the final gallery.
