You could be forgiven for thinking otherwise if you look out the window right now, but Spring is definitely on its way. And I am celebrating by launching my Spring Mini Sessions.
The Isabella Plantation is best for Spring photography sessions
It's no secret that the Isabella Plantation in Richmond Park is one of my favourite places, not least because in the months of April, May and June it is a riot of colour with bluebells, azaleas and rhododendrons blooming all over this beautiful space.
And that is why I've decided to hold my Spring mini sessions there again this year.
I only have 8 spaces available for these sessions, which will take place on the 21st April. The times available as as follows:
9am, 9:30am, 10:30am, 11am, 2pm, 2:30pm, 3pm, 4pm
Spring flowers in bloom
I visited the plantation last weekend, and the daffodils were blooming everywhere (as you can see in the photo of my daughter above), there was no sign of any bluebells, but I could see the plants just ready to flower throughout the plantation.
If you want to see what the plantation looks like in its full glory, have a browse through a selection of my favourite photos from last year's sessions below.

It's no secret that I love photographing families, nothing gives me greater joy than capturing the special relationships you have with your children on camera. And this fun-filled winter family session in Richmond Park over the weekend was no exception.
Gorgeous, natural family photos - whatever the weather
Whenever I have an outdoor session coming up, I can get a bit obsessive about watching the various weather reports, especially if it's a golden hour shoot just before sunset. But if there is one thing I have learned, it is that you can never really predict exactly what the weather is going to do!
When we arrived at the park there was lots of lovely dramatic cloud cover and a beautiful even light which lends itself beautifully to lovely portraits. We were also lucky enough to have the sun break through the clouds in a gorgeous sunburst, on the horizon just before sunset. Somewhere inbetween we were also treated to a very brief ice-storm where we were pelted with small hailstones, but thankfully that was very shortlived!
Feeling a little camera-shy? Not a problem during my sessions
I had the best time doing this session, this lovely family were up for having a good time - despite the chill! But their lovely little girl was a bit camera-shy. And it can be quite intimidating to have a stranger point a big camera in your face. But this wasn't a problem because we spent a lot of time playing. We threw leaves in the air, jumped over fallen tree trunks, ran, jumped and twirled and, of course, this lovely little lady had lots of snuggles with mum and dad.
Family photography matters
Of course, you don't have to take my word for it, because what really matters is not what I think of the photos, it is what the family thinks. This is what Sam had to say about the session: "Love them!!! Thank you so much! Couldn’t recommend you enough! You have a true talent with a camera and also getting a slightly reluctant 3 yr old and her Dad to engage!!!"

Every time I pick up my camera, I'm very conscious of the fact that I am capturing precious memories. Memories of you and your children, as you are, right now. And mums, those memories really matter, have a look around your home, through your albums and on your phone, I bet you have lots of photos of your children but how many of your family photos do you appear in?
I hope there are many, because as well as being precious to you, those memories are going to be precious to your children too in years to come. Whether you work, or stay at home, are doing it all on your own or have tons of support, whether there are just two or ten in your family, you are the heart and centre of that very special unit. You are necessary, irreplaceable and very loved by those little people you have made. And as they grow, as well as seeing photos of themselves and remembering happy or fun times, they will want to see photos of you laughing and loving them, just as you do every single day (even the very hard ones!)
I make a point of taking as many photos as I can of each individual parent with their children during our sessions. And what I really want to show is what you see in these few examples on this page here, that the relationship you have with your children is precious, it's unique and the love you have for them knows no bounds.

I guess you are having a little me time, browsing through the internet while your little ones are otherwise engaged (or even in bed). But I just want you to stop for a moment because they are growing up far too quickly aren't they? Soon they'll be so much bigger than they are now, so take a moment to think, what is it about them that you love, right now?Read More

These are just a few of the lovely things my clients had to say about me last year and the best thing about 2018 is that I am looking forward to photographing each and every one of them again - I'm looking forward to capturing those bumps that have become babies, the babies that are now toddling around and the children who are now that much bigger and that much more grown up.
Maternity and newborn photography
One of the things I have loved the most about the past few months is the excitement of photographing expectant parents and having the privilege of documenting some precious moments when their tiny babies finally make their appearances. There really is something special about seeing the utter love and devotion a parent has for their child (no matter how old they are!) and for me, there is no greater joy than being able to witness this special relationship and capture it on camera. I've loved every moment of my family sessions throughout 2017 and I am excited about what this year has to bring.
Memorable moments with toddlers
Nothing beats a session involving a toddler for sheer energy and fun. They may be tiny but our little people have a huge amount of energy and BIG imaginations. I loved every spin, twirl, running jump and fierce cuddle of 2017 and I'm looking forward to many more this year.
As you can see, choosing just a few highlights of the last year was an impossible task. Not only did I have trouble choosing my favourites, I also got caught up in memories of all the wonderful people I've met and captured on camera. The excited, nervous and always-glowing pregnant mums and dads-to-be; the tiny newborns whose adoring parents just can't stop kissing and cuddling them; those beaming, giggling babies, the full-of-life-toddlers and energetic children, those big from-the-belly laughs and the fierce cuddles along with all the love and joy that the people closest to us can bring. It made me realise just how much I loved photographing all the lovely families I met in 2017 and just how excited I am for the year ahead. 2018 - I'm ready for you!

Little Nutbrown Hare, who was going to bed, held on tight to Big Nutbrown Hare's very long ears. He wanted to be sure that Big Nutbrown Hare was listening.
"Guess how much I love you," he said.
"Oh, I don't think I could guess that," said Big Nutbrown Hare...
And so begins one of the most well-loved bedtime stories in my house, it's one I know by heart. I've probably read this story a thousand times. I can recite it, word for word, right to the end. But that last whispered line still gives me a lump in my throat and makes me tear up (just a little) every single time. Because it's a truth universal that our children cannot possibly comprehend just how much we love them.
Nothing could be closer to the truth for this wonderful couple and their miracle twin baby boys. Their excitement, joy and the love they have for eachother and their little guys was palpable and I was so privileged to be able to share in this wonderful time for them. I adored my session with these two lovely parents and their little miracles, who I just know will be adored - right up to the moon AND BACK.
If you are expecting an addition to your family and would like some lovely, natural photos of your newborn, get in touch. I'd love to help you document this unique time

When they look back on their favourite photos, I hope little Anna will recall her delight in being thrown in the air by her dad, how fiercely she threw herself into the tightest of hugs with the two people she loves best in the world and the simple pleasure in twirling with her oh-so-elegant mum, almost-matching skirts flared in the setting sun.Read More

When my 3-year-old was a baby I just wanted to freeze time at each of his milestones, the first time he smiled at 5 weeks, those adorable baby giggles that followed a month or two later, the first time he crawled, those first wobbly steps - with my children time just seems to be speeding by so fast.
So each time I pick up my camera, whether it is for my own family or someone else's, I am really just trying to freeze time, to preserve a memory of what our lives and our little people are like, right now.
This gorgeous family - who are good friends of mine - allowed me into their home to capture a glimpse of what their 'right now' looks like.
Their one-year-old is one of the happiest babies I know. His smiles light up the whole room and he is just about up on his feet and interested in everything, and he really looks up to his big sister. Can you tell how much she adores him? I really love how feisty and full of fun she is, she is also really caring and so sweet with younger children, a real little mother hen.
They have a fantastic father who takes them out on big adventures (what amazing memories they'll have of their childhood when they are older) and a mum who always seems so calm and capable amidst the chaos that is life with two small children, she's an inspiration. What a privilege it was to spend some time with this amazing family.
